The countdown to 2016 is sure to be the party of the year. Fireworks, cocktails, music and more! Here’s a few tips on how to survive the best night of 2015.
Arrive Early and Prepare for a Late Night
Get to your New Year’s destination early. The City of Las Vegas begins street closures several hours prior to festivities beginning. After the fireworks go off, the party really begins. Plan to get home after the sun rises. Parking
Take a photo of the garage and floor that you are on. If you ring 2016 in right, you’ll need that photo to find your way back. Dress Warm
Although snow may not be falling across the city, Las Vegas is a desert and nights get pretty chilly. Bundle up with sweaters, scarves, gloves and your best New Year’s hat. Transportation
Drink up because Las Vegas has plenty of transportation to get you where you need to go. RTC public transportation is offering free rides every 20 minutes from 6 p.m. New Year’s Eve to 9 a.m. New Year’s Day. Pick up locations include Westcliff Airport Express and the Centennial Express. Between Uber, Taxis and public transit, you’ll have not excuse to even consider drinking and driving.
The biggest tip to remember for New Year’s in Las Vegas is HAVE FUN! Ringing in 2016 in Las Vegas is an experience you won’t find in your average city.

We’re talking about the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, and this year we are celebrating like never before!
Every year in December, the most prestigious rodeo in the world comes to Las Vegas. For ten days, hotels and casinos throughout the city roll out the country carpet and welcome the best cowboys and cowgirls and hundreds of thousands of rodeo fans. This year, the rodeo will be Dec. 4-13 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
A lot of you may already know this, and some of you may already have your annual WNFR trip booked. But, what you may not know is that the Golden Nugget’s owner, Mr. Tilman Fertitta, is a huge fan of the WNFR.
Mr. Fertitta was born and raised in Texas and has been a rodeo fan his whole life. Mr. Fertitta’s year would not be complete without a trip to the WNFR each December. He enjoys turning the trip into a family affair and brings his wife and children to experience the fun.
But Mr. Fertitta does not stop at attending the rodeo. Each year, he transforms the Golden Nugget Las Vegas into a cowboy haven, making it so you never have to leave the Golden Nugget to have a great time.
This year, the Golden Nugget will host top-notch entertainment every night in The Grand Event Center after the rodeo. Kicking off the week with a rare appearance on the west coast is Hank Williams, Jr. Dec. 4-6. One of the most consistent ticket sellers in country music, Hank Williams, Jr. is known for his dynamic live performances and hit songs such as “Family Tradition” and “Born to Boogie.”
Dec. 7-8, Merle Haggard returns to the Golden Nugget Las Vegas for the fourth year in a row. Haggard has continuously been one of the most popular entertainers during the rodeo, bringing crowds of country fans to downtown Las Vegas and selling out all of his shows. Travis Tritt will be in The Grand Event Center for one night only Dec. 9.
Female superstar Sara Evans will make her downtown Las Vegas debut at the Golden Nugget Dec. 10, bringing with her multiple number-one singles, including “A Little Bit Stronger,” “Suds in the Bucket” and “Slow Me Down.” Closing out the 2014 NFR season is Alabama, who will perform a two-night stint Dec. 11 and 12.
If you’re looking to have a few drinks and a lot of fun, make sure you check out Gold Diggers every night of the rodeo! The hottest nightclub downtown will be transformed into a country bar complete with line dancing lessons. The club will continue to play a variety of music throughout the week, including both Top 40s, country hits and more.
